Small Grant Program

The Consortium for Belize Educational Cooperation (COBEC) funds small grants for projects between Belizean and non-Belizean member institutions that contribute to the development of higher education in Belize.

COBEC as the body does not offer scholarships or grants to students. Any prospective or current student seeking scholarships to study at a COBEC member institution should contact that university directly, using the contact emails provided on the "Membership and Members" page of the COBEC website.

Various funding options offered by universities:

  • Colorado State University

    Graduate Assistantships with out-of-state tuition; competitive, managed and assigned by departments. [Visit the university's Website]

  • SUNY Cortland

    Award of $2,500 per year to all full-time undergraduate international students. The award is renewable for as long as the student is a full-time undergraduate student and stays in good academic standing. The Director of Admissions will select the award recipients based on their admissions application. No separate application is required and your award will be reflected in your acceptance letter.

  • East Carolina University

    Graduate Assistantships for Multicultural Literature, English as a Second Language, Composition and Technical Writing.

  • Georgia College

    Full or partial out-of-state tuition waivers on basis of need, merit and availability; Graduate Assistantships including most fees and tuition plus small monthly stipend; On-campus employment.Cooperates with OAS to fully fund selected students.

  • University of Hawaii — Hilo

    Two tuition scholarships for UB students.

  • Kennesaw State University

    Full or partial out-of-state tuition waivers on basis of need, merit and availability; Graduate Assistantships including most fees and tuition plus small monthly stipend; On-campus employment. [Visit the university's Website]

  • Murray State University

    Out-of-state waivers, work-study opportunities, and Graduate Assistantships.

  • New Mexico State University

    Graduate Assistantships including out-of-state tuition.

  • University of North Florida

    Latin American / Caribbean (LAC) Scholarships are available for admitted student on a competitive basis.

  • University of South Florida

    Full out-of-state tuition scholarships to Belizean students who are recipients of State of Florida scholarships or Federal (including OAS) scholarships. Financial assistance determined following acceptance and depending on merit and funding policies of the departments.

  • Valdosta State University

    Full or partial out-of-state tuition waivers on basis of need, merit and availability; Graduate Assistantships including most fees and tuition plus small monthly stipend; On-campus employment.

  • Viterbo University

    Two $10,000 annual tuition only scholarships for Belizean students; or grant/work awards of $5,000 – $8,000 annually. Both based on academic performance and financial need. Cooperate with OAS to fully fund selected students.

  • Western Kentucky University

    Out-of-state tuition waivers for undergraduates or graduates; Graduate Assistantships.
