5 1 Pound Papers: Board of Regents Correspondence, Jan.-May 1934 5 Jere Madison Pound; Izzie Bashinski, Secretary-Treasurer of BOR; and W.W. Noyes, interim and assistant Secretary-Treasurer of BOR Correspondence deals with preparing the University System budget for the upcoming school year. Contains the Board of Regents meeting minutes of Jan. 22, 1934, in which Izzie Bashinski is named the new Secretary-Treasurer, replacing Erle Cocke (whose new job was at the Loan Agency of the Reconstruction Finance Corporation). Later evidence reveals that Bashinski died in late March. The grant for construction at University System colleges to be done by the Public Works Administration was approved by FDR. The BOR minutes also include a report from the visitation committee regarding their time in Valdosta: "All the clouds are swept away and the local people are in full accord with Dr. Pound's management." There is more correspondence aboutgeneral budget/finance issues. Of interest is a letter from Pound's secretary to Andrew Kingery (regent) about Frank Reade coming at the end of May to stay through June, due to Pound's ill health.
