While fishing at his favorite fishing hole, Dump meets up with his former boss Pender - a man he hates. Pender gets bite by a snake and dies before Dump can leave to go get help.

The photocopied reviews include: a Publishers Weekly review of Whistle, dated January 26, 1998. Also about the book Whistle is a review by Lisa Alther, entitled "If the Shoe Fits…" in the Washington Post, dated March 22, 1998. Earl in the Yellow Shirt is reviewed by Liesel Litzenburger (no date), entitled "Do tell: Scurvys are hard to resist," in the Detroit Free Press. "New voice stirs up the swamp," a review in the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel by Chauncy Mabe, explores Daugharty as a writer and discusses the PawPaw Patch, article is 2 pages. The Folio Weekly Fall Book Review, by Tricia Booker, titled "From rags to reading," is an article about Daugharty mentions "Dark of the Moon" and "Earl in the Yellow Shirt." Also included, dated September 25, 1994 from The New York Times, is a review written by John Domini and entitled "Okefenokee Tales," of "Going Through the Change" - a collection of short stories- and "Dark of the Moon." Also, a copy of Booktv.org 's website dated March 16/17, 1999. Another photocopied review by Jackie Pray (publication unknown) discusses the book "Like a Sister." southeast GA, Echols Co., GA, Statenville Bridge, Mayday Bridge, Note explains that this story was sent to Southern Living 1/29/1998 and was also in the Chattahoochee Review and aired on GA Public Radio. Ms. Daugharty mentions her grandmother and grandfather, her children and husband, and several local residents, but not by name. This short story is an account of the Alapaha River, which runs through Echols Co. and is the lifeline for many in the area.
