Powell's annual
report for 1927-28. Sections include: general, financial matters, budget and
needs of the college. Of interest in this report are: Powell notes that the
Legislature has never adequately funded the school and that local citizens
provided assistance and weren't reimbursed timely by the state. Also, the
mission of the school changed--no high school students, and increased no. of
senior college students. School became member of American Association of
Teachers Colleges. Dean Wood is under scrutiny; put on a kind of probation.
Other Board minutes concern "usual" business (funding, construction,
faculty). Of note is that, in April, the Board agreed to build a brick walk
from West Hall to Patterson St. and line it with palms. |
