323 Reade Papers: Library Construction (1938-39) 27 01 Evelyn Deariso, W.A. Edwards, J.A. Dusenberry, L.R. Siebert, W.J. Sayward, R.H. Driftmier General references to the construction of the library. Money problems in 1938 made planning for the library an on-again, off-again project. W.A. Edwards died and papers detail a plan to put a picture of him in the library as a memorial. Dockets, change orders, problems with roof color, furniture, panel inscriptions, sculptures, bids, lighting, list of books needed. Other construction: reference to Log Cabin 6/24/38 and 9/14/39. An announcement that Mrs. Roosevelt could come with one week's notice, telegrams, lists of special guests, instrutions for Mrs. Roosevelt, announcements of the closing of city and county schools, Reade's speech for the dedication, specific mention of rosin/resin and it's use in Valdosta.
