- Location of the Ocmulgee mounds are located east of Macon, and there is a large archaeological restoration of Ancient Indian civilization open to visitors. There is also an Archeological museum and tours of the EarthLodge which is a restored ceremonial building, mounds, and Indian lodges. There were six tribes that lived in this area from 800 B.C. to 1717 A.D. During the summer there are demonstrations of Indian crafts. Directions are listed at the bottom on how to get to the Ocmulgee Mounds.
