Description
Audra Smoke was named first runner-up in the Miss Indian Oklahoma Pageant which was held in Oklahoma City. Nikki Ownings, Wichita from Anadarko was crowned Miss Indian of Oklahoma in 1989. Audra received a 300 dollar scholarship, a ribbon shirt sewn by Adaline DeBoise, and a modern art sculpture. Each contestant is judged on how much they know about tribal history, traditional talent, traditional wear, contemporary talent, and wear. Smoke has been asked to be the head lady dancer for the Cherokee National Holiday Powwow. Audra is a Cherokee tribal intern, daughter of William and Deborah Smoke of Spavinaw and Teri and Eric Stoner of Sand Springs.
