Description
The Cherokee Nation is the second-largest Indian tribe in the country. Elizabeth Bird is a full-blooded Cherokee who feels that it is important to retain traditional values and spread cultural understanding. Bird is a leader in 'Youth 2000' which is a program to help American Indian/ Alaskan Native Youth to work towards social and economic self-sufficiency by the year 2000. Youth 2000 and the United National Indian Tribal Youth are trying to provide motivation for the Indian youth. The group has over 330 youth counselors from 25 states and represents 83 tribes.
