- Description
- Indian families are leaving the cities and moving back to reservations. One Sioux family that moved to California is now moving back to the Pine Ridge Reservation. Most people moved off the reservation due to an Eisenhower-era federal relocation program which was created to reduce government subsidies. Now that Indians are reaching retirement age and living off of pension checks, they decide to move back so that the Bureau of Indian Affairs can take care of their food, hospitalization, and housing costs.
