Description
Pushmataha and other Choctaws agreed with Shawnee Chief Tecumseh that they needed to organize an all-Indian Confederacy to limit American Expansion. Pushmataha did not have the means to support the movement dissuaded his tribe and the Chickasaws from joining the alliance. The Treaty of Ghent left America in control of the Old Southwest. This was supposed to be a permanent treaty but ended up being renegotiated in 1825.
