- Clay County acquired the birthplace of Jesse Jamea and has turned it into a historic site. A museum is being constructed nearby that tells the story of the famous outlaw Jesse James. The descendants of James have operated the James's farm as a tour site but it has started to deteriorate over time. There is also another visitor attraction which is the Jesse James Bank Museum.
