Description
Article is divided into more sections and discusses the early missions along the Grand River and the Cherokee Nation. Thomas Nuttal journeyed up the Grand/Neosho River and found the Campbell Saltworks. Christianity was established after the Union Mission in 1820. The Cherokee Nation is made up of Cherokee from Georgia and South Carolina. They were given permission by President Jefferson to remove voluntarily to Arkansas Territory. These moves were legalized by the Osage Treaty of 1817. The Cherokees were divided into groups such as Eastern and Western Cherokees.
