- Description
- This newsletter begins by announcing the next annual meeting at 4pm on August 30, 2003, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, at the Cherokee Nation Council Chambers. A guest speaker named Dr. Lindsay Robertson was to be present at the meeting, and a small bit of information about him is included in the newsletter. It also announces a board meeting on August 29, 2003 at 6pm. Also included are the minutes from the March 22, 2003 meeting of the association, done by secretary Barbara Dunlap. An 1817 letter from Nancy Ward addressed to other Cherokee women is included as well, transcribed by Barbara Dunlap. The newsletter announces that an editor has been found, Shirley Rider. A letter by William Martin to Lyman Draper is also included. A section about landscaping at Nancy Ward's grave is also in this issue, calculating costs and detailing the work. The newsletter concludes by congratulating Jay Garland and Barbara Ruth (Rider) Faulkner on their 50th wedding anniversary and recognizing Bobbie Lee Neely, a Navy veteran.
