The first page of a nearly 800-page novel traces south Georgia history through three generations of women from the 1870’s to 1960’s. It represents a new direction for Janice, and isn’t a recognizable “Janice Daugharty novel". Also, it is much longer than her previous works. This novel is coming out in April of 2004. It has been a long trek to get publishers to accept the change. There are later novels in a similar vein which might now have a chance.
