Regional Identity Projects

Valdosta State University students enrolled in Diane W. Howard’s English 1102 classes spring semester 2004 prepared and presented creative projects related to and inspired by Daugharty’s short stories at the Janice Daugharty Festival, April 29, 2004.  Some projects required a collaborated effort with 2-5 fellow classmates; others were best completed and presented alone.

The creative projects presented included the following:

·        Publish Class Newspaper
·    Write and perform a song
·        Design and display a Tee shirt 
·        Make and display a video documentary
·        Adapt a scene from a story for film and make/display the film 
·        Adapt a scene from a story for stage and perform
·        Adapt a scene from a story for a theater reading and reading
·        Make a map of Cornerville and display
·        Make a pottery item  or quilt and display
·        Paint or draw a scene and exhibit
·        Prepare and display a table of food from one of the stories
·    Organize and participate in a Cornerville fashion show
