Leona and her mother Rosa were dedicated creators of photograph albums and scrapbooks. We have described 40 of these scrapbooks and albums in our database. Most document the family’s numerous travels. In creating this site, however, we choose to scan seven of the more interesting, and older, albums and scrapbooks. Where identifications can be gleaned from the writing in the books, we have included them in a note on the page. These albums date from the late 1800’s to the 1950’s and include such topics as travel, women’s colleges, World War II, courting, and three generations of family.
The photos in these albums also document life in Valdosta, Georgia , from the turn of the century through the 1950’s. If you can identify some of the people in these images that are not identified, please contact us at (229) 333-7150 or via email at archives@valdosta.edu
