Joyce Wins Graduate Scholarship in English
Joyce Ann Joyce, a graduating senior at Valdosta State College majoring in English, has received a scholarship for graduate study at the University of Georgia. This scholarship, awarded on the basis of academic excellence, is granted by the Three-Year Master's Degree Program designed for students who plan to become college teachers. It is supported by a grant from the Ford Foundation. Dr. Raymond Cook, head of the Department of English, is the program coordinator at Valdosta State.
Miss Joyce is a member of Sigma Alpha Chi Honor Society, secretary of Alpha Chi Honor Society, and vice-president of Cardinal Key, women's honorary society. She is also a student-court justice, Campus Canopy reporter, and is listed in "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities, 1969–70."
In addition to her activities and studies, Miss Joyce works as a student assistant in the English Department and is currently studying under a Remerton Mills scholarship. She will graduate in August and begin her graduate work at Georgia in the fall.
