2. Create a Community

Use this section when creating either a top-level community or a sub-community.

Goal

Create a community in the correct hierarchy with complete descriptive fields.

Prerequisites

  • Permission to create communities
  • Confirmed parent location in Vtext
  • Approved naming pattern for the new community

When to Create a Community

  • Create a top-level community for a new major program area
  • Create a sub-community when work belongs under an existing parent

Steps

  1. Open New from the sidebar.
  2. Select Community.
  3. Choose top-level placement or select the correct parent community.
  4. Complete required fields.
  5. Save.

Community Fields

  • Name
  • Logo
  • Introductory text
  • Short description
  • Copyright text
  • News text

After Saving

  • Verify placement in the hierarchy
  • Confirm that display text is complete and readable
  • Confirm naming consistency with related communities

QC Checklist

  • [ ] Community appears under the correct parent
  • [ ] Name follows local conventions
  • [ ] Intro and short description are complete
  • [ ] Required fields are not blank

Troubleshooting

  • Incorrect hierarchy: edit and move per local procedure
  • Missing descriptions: reopen and complete descriptive fields
  • Naming mismatch: update title to match local pattern
